The Canon EOS R6 Mark III will be good, but not revolutionary

Wasn't precapture first featured in the R7 and R10? Even though it was in its infancy with only the ability to store the whole batch of pictures and then picking one of the images through dpp or in camera.

But I guess it was called "Raw burst" back then, now that I think about it..

Seems like some logical improvements.
To me, most interesting is the sensor.
Will it get the rumoured R3 sensor?
Will it be exactly the same, or will it be improved somehow? Or something different?
As a Mk II owner, I'm not impressed enough with the overall package, and I suppose, I won't bite the bullet.
But I hope, a lot will have their fun with this camera as I have with my Mk II.

Does anyone know if the r6m3 is going to have action priority? As a soccer dad, the majority of my shots are of kids playing soccer. As time allows, I shoot the senior teams at the club as well. If no, I might be better off with an m2. Lemme know. Thanks!

The 40 FPS on the R6 Mark II is limited to a burst of 2 seconds, while the 30 FPS on the R5 II and R3 is pretty much unlimited till the card is full, same goes for the 40 FPS on the R1. So the truly continuous / unlimited 30 FPS is far more useful to capture sports and action.

It's the R3 sensor (or variation as people always say), stacked... so.... maybe some considerations.. who knows.. but I don't think fps really matters all that much between 30 and 40 as far as a spec sheet goes. Maybe they'll add the 195 though! There are limitations with the current 40fps anyway.

This will be a true R3 mini, minus the touch control button, eye-control AF and built-in grip. Really what most of us wanted all along, hopefully they will keep the price the same around $2500.

They will need to do that to stand a chance against the Sony A7 V that will debut around the same time. The mirrorless world is shaping up to be a duopoly of Canon vs. Sony after Canon closed the gap in both sensor and AF technology.

A better EVF is for me THE major upgrade.
The Nikonlike orientable LCD is also a nice new feature, though I prefer not to have it on the R5 II, apart from it being OLED. I have a dislike of moving parts, especially when also electronically connected to the body. But I must confess I also preferred the rigidly integrated ones...no longer!
The R6 II enjoys a very intelligent upgrade, despite the "only 24MP" expected Internet whining.

I think the action priority is part of the DIGIC Accelerator package so almost certainly it will be there. It's a software algorithm that needs the DIGIC Accelerator to work.

The new screen does sound interesting and intriguing. I would like to have a tilting screen that is on the same axis as the lens. This is not possible with the flippy screen of the R5. 40 FPS e-shutter should be a given, I´m assuming CR had a typo. With the stacked sensor and new screen I´ll guess it will have a retail price beyond 3.k €. This would leave some room space in the lineup for a slightly more upmarket R8 (no stacked sensor, maybe a joystick and precapture, IBIS???) at around 2. k € (+/-) and FF entry level R9 (1.2-1.4 K €) without EVF (maybe geared towards vloggers) or an M6mkii style FF camera. (Just dreaming here)

They've already made their money on the sensor from the R3, and there doesn't need to be a ton of R&D investment in design and manufacturing. OLED isn't expensive anymore, you can find OLED screens on $150 phones.

But will Canon finally gives us a metal body cover on the R6? Probably not. With all the upgrades to the R6 iii making it more professional..the body should still be metal just like the z50, Fuji or a6xxx series are and cheaper.

Sure, or else everyone will switch to Sony like they have been doing for years. Always good when people explain why Canon has been losing market share, or will lose market share, or whatever.
