Canon EOS R6 Mark III prototypes are in the wild

The timing on this is probably about as good as it could be. We've been working without a contract since the beginning of the year, and that isn't going to be resolved until at least the end of November. Which means I will be owed a pretty good sized chunk of change that I'll be seeing sometime in January. Coming from my old RP, my list of "wants" is a bit different from other folks. The worst thing I ever did with my RP was buy an R10 when it came out to be my second body. The full frame sensor still gives better results. But the R10's AF is leaps and bounds ahead of the RP, and I find myself leaning on it more than I want to for certain things like small birds. And I find that the RP's AF is vastly inferior in that regard, but I am still missing a certain percentage of shots with the R10. I've read a lot about the improvements in AF on the R5mkII, and it sounds like it would keep pace with the shooting I enjoy doing. But though I'd love the additional resolution, I'd have to sell a kidney to finance it. Canon's non-L lens lineup is fantastic for a consumer lens lineup, but the R5's resolution would probably pick them apart. I'm not eager for that either. And since I travel a lot, I am not interested in dumping a bunch of cash into heavier L lenses. But a third generation R6 with 24 happy little megapixels, an EVF and AF similar to the R5mkII, and a good forward jump in image quality? That's an upgrade I'd happily make and stick with. And since I am not a guy who upgrades all the time (exhibit A: my 6 year old RP) waiting for the R6mkIII instead of leaping directly to the R6mkII makes sense.

If you like the RP, I can easily recommend the R8. It’s an R6II without IBIS and a smaller battery, but much, much cheaper.

I dissagree, the SD card slots in the current R6ii already cover 24mp @ 40fps more than adequately. The CF express is only required for high resolution 8K video.

CF express is required for higher quality RAW motion imaging.

And Panasonic and Nikon already have it in this price segment and support CF express and cheaper cards combo.

I have no desire to swap over to CF express at the moment. It requires a new set of more expensive cards and a new card reader for pretty much the same feature parameters.

Not if you can use another card type too as before.

I just put my r6 mark 2 which I made the setting 1.15, and I filmed in 4k 50 ipb best quality and I was able to film up to 1H 18 without problem I was just at 3 bars of heating, it is the limit of the card which stopped me, could canon have fixed something? it must be said that the part was at 18 degrees I think but it\'s cool right
