I don’t think that I’ve ever done a predicitons post for the upcoming year on this site, so I decided to steal the idea and do one that is Canon focused. If I let this sit for days or weeks, the predictions would likely change every hour, so this is what I will go with and await being wrong a year from now with open arms.
Here’s hoping Richard has the courage to do his own predictions and risk not being the one to gloat a year from now. We may have a bit of overlap, but I don’t think there will a lot.
I am leaving out the obviously coming things like the EOS R6 Mark III.
Canon Cameras
- A new APS-C body without an EVF that will resemble the EOS M6 Mark II, but with some added size.
- An EOS R7 Mark II that doesn’t resemble the current iteration in a lot of ways.
- A retro inspired EOS R camera near the end of 2025 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the AE-1 in 2026.
- A G7X Mark IV or something similar.
- A new full-frame global shutter sensor Cinema EOS camera above the Cinema EOS C400 that doesn’t cost $40,000.
- An EOS R100 Mark II in collaboration with Richard.
Canon Lenses
- Two constant aperture RF-S Z lenses.
- Wide angle RF Z L zoom that doesn’t match any current focal range.
- Fast ultra-wide RF prime, an astrophotographers dream.
- An RF 500mm f/5.6 or similar, perhaps a DO design.
- Some kind of crazy new lens design.
- Autofocus Tilt-Shift lenses finally!
- An RF 28mm f/1.4L in collaboration with Craig.
I will say that I’m cheating a little bit (Sorry Richard), other than the long rumored autofocus tilt-shift lenses, I wanted to have at least a couple of things I could pat myself on the back about, but sadly it likely won’t be because of the 28L, as I haven’t been asked yet.
I’m looking forward to hearing the predictions of others and reading what I didn’t think about.

If it has been talked ad nauseam about, it's probably past the "prediction" stage.
If such one could be with FF, even better. But I'd also take APS-C.
Better an R50 II as well in collaboration with @Richard CR .
Maybe they should redo the APS-C Kit lenses as well.
To me those were as good as the R100. What do you think @Richard CR?
IF those Kits stay and if those RF-S Z lenses weren't small (as I suppose) then I'd have to go with Sigma for the body above.
Yes I do understand these are just predictions...
If Canon is to release 7-9 lenses next year, I´d take a guess:
1. a big surprise lenses nobody thought was possible: a 90-180mm 1:1 macro zoom lens.
2. RF-s 18-55mm F2.8 Z
3. RF-s 55-180mm F2.8 Z
--> or maybe a RF-S 9-20mm F2.8 Z
--> I believe Canon will launch two RF-S Z lenses at the same time
4. RF 85mm F1.4 VCM
5. RF 12-24mm F2.8 Z
6. RF 14mm F1.8 L
7. RF 28-70mm F2 mkii around 1 kg
8. RF 70-150mm F2
9. RF´s 22mm F2 carried over from the EOS M system
Lenses 7 & 8 will be released together.
Cameras:
1. Retro cameras FF
2. R7mkii --> mini R6, designed like R5/6 and with a BG!
3. R10mkii --> current R7 internals, including IBIS
4. Vlogging based APS-C camera
I don´t know what kind of camera a RF-s Z lenses would be best suited for. Maybe it needs a new mode?
Obviously, R6mkiii is coming but that is not a prediction.
2026:
1. R8 mkii moving a little bit more upmarket: still no IBIS, but a joystick (a man can dream!) few tweaks here and there, coming Q2
2. R9 with no EVF and compact design (not really high hopes here) coming in Q4
As said, just guessing here :)
A video-first camera designed to compete with the Sony ZV-E10 II and Nikon Z30.
Why would it be larger?
The MkII was already bigger than the MkI.
