  1. I've applied it this afternoon and the camera hasn't exploded yet. I did find out that the on-camera error "Battery too low for firmware update" is presented as "Failure to transfer" in the Canon Connect app on the phone...

    I tried to update.

But the R5 Mk2 gives me the error message:
«cannot update the firmware because it is older than the one installed»

This is the first time something like this has happened to me!

You likely have a firmware file on both cards, check with a card reader and delete them if needed.
  4. Annoyingly, I still get the info message about pressing mode to switch between video and photo when I first go to review photos after boot. Sigh
This was also my hope, alas, Canon didn't listen. Is is so hard to delete such a useless message?

Very strange thing! I have both cards formatted! I repeated the procedure and... same error!

Then I tried to unmount the card where I inserted the firmware and obviously it says no firmware found.

I reinserted it and it still gives me an error message.

Then I removed the other card and, unexpectedly, the procedure started!

    Let's hope for the best!

Now the update started, but it completely stopped with a few (theoretical) seconds to go!
    What to do?

  8. I want the Stll image side to get some of the goodies that are in the Movie mode. I want to load my darn Custom Picture Style .cube Look file in the Still mode. Just like I can push the LUT button on my Panasonic cameras. I do not want to use and external editor bla bla bla. Panasonic can do it. Canon wants to simply protect its Picture Style Editor platform. I am not going to convert 100s of .cube files. It can be done in camera by Canon. Just like Panasonic did. Yeah I can go to Color io, Lutifyme, etc and pay a fee for the conversion. Spare me. Why is syncing the same Look file across platforms and images such a daunting task?
  9. The Canon customer service rep suggest that one apply a .cube Look file in an external editor, transfer that file into Canon's Picture Style editor and then convert that file into a pf3 file. Such bs. But I can simply download any .cube file to my phone and send it to my Panasonic camera and then push a button. Voila. No external editor needed.

The previous update did that for me, I just ignored it and came back 30 minutes later, it had completed by then.

So this is a video-only/centric update?

    I'll pass.
  12. The firmware update is on Canon USA web page now.
I just downloaded it and installed without any problems at all. did not take long at all and no wait at the end.
I haven\'t checked any of the listed updates or fixes but menu page comes up just fine.

  13. Ironic I just got my R5 back from Canon in Costa Mesa yesterday (for a manufacturing defect) and it still has 1.0.1. I guess they didn't even have 1.0.2 internally.
