Welcome to the second day of CanonRumor’s 12 days of Christmas.

If you know the song, this is supposed to be two turtle doves. I’m not sure if shipping live birds around these days is legal, but if you want turtle doves, Amazon has you covered.

I started yesterday thinking, let’s do the number of items on each associated day and then quickly realize by next week that it would be kind of crazy to complete. So, while it sounded like a fantastic idea, I’ll keep it simple and down to a few items each and every day.

Fujifilm X-M5 Mirrorless Camera

I love this camera and would be thrilled to get it as a gift. I know it’s near blasphemy that I’m suggesting a Fujifilm camera on CanonRumors, but at least it’s not a Sony. I’d recommend an R100 before stooping that low.

I loved the little soap bar cameras when Canon made them for the EOS-M, partly because they were so travel-friendly. You could shove one (or, in my case, two) cameras and fit them almost anywhere. Combine that with small lenses; you can take it anywhere without dragging a large kit around.

Maybe we’ll get lucky in 2025, and Canon will hear my continual whining over this and do something about it. Since this is a fairly hot new item with more limited availability, I’ve linked a few different sources for it for you to choose from.

There’s a good likelihood that this camera will not ship before Christmas, so you may have to go with the second choice, and no, it’s not an R100.

Panasonic Lumix S9

Panasonic’s Lumix S9, which came out this year, is another soapbar-styled camera that I really liked. While reviewers seem to suggest that it’s meant for videographers, I trust that we photographers can adapt to any camera, learn its strengths and get the most from it. Sporting a 24MP full-frame sensor, combine this with the small 18-40mm, and you have a great little travel kit. I would normally suggest the 20-60mm, but I liked the smaller size of the 18-40, and while you can crop to 60mm, you can’t “uncrop” to 18mm.
