A few things I’d love to see Canon come out with this release cycle

It always makes me laugh when I see
...people making statements that are easily refuted. Yeah...me, too.

Canon forgot what photography is all about when it abandoned its customers. ... Fujifilm has understood this and I dare say that they do listen to their customers
Nearly half of all cameras sold last year were made by Canon. Does that sound like abandonment to you? Meanwhile, Fuji listened and managed capture a phenomenal 5.8% of the market (down from the prior year, while Canon was up).

Here's What Listening Gets You.png

It's ok, I know you really mean that Fuji listens to people who think like you. Apparently, that's not helping them sell more cameras.

Why are you here, anyway? Besides trolling and talking about cars and penises, I mean.

I don't understand why some guys from other brands came here to bash Canon, just like in DPReview forums, even Canon themselves are the top dog of the game.
It's just bizarre seeing Fuji is mentioned here when they still trying to figure out how to do a reliable AF, Fuji themselves purposely manufactured in tiny quantity to jack up the price for their X100VI, an insanely overpriced camera with lackluster AF and a subpar performance lens, I was going to get an X100VI just for fun but after seeing the real reviews of the AF jumping around not sticking to anything reliable, the lens has to be stopped down 1-2 stops to make it usable, I abandoned the idea. My original EOS M + 22mm seems to be a much better package, the M6mkII is too much for Fuji to handle.

And the Fuji fans are tearing the X-T50 camera apart, jacking up the price to almost of a X-T5, cutting buttons, joysticks, Q-button, worse EVF, worse WR, what is Fuji becoming? A fashionable tiktok brand?

It always makes me laugh when I see the desires \"needs\" of many Canon customers. It makes me think of the Americans with their huge cars and small penises, or the Swiss buying their 4x4 car to drive it around Geneva (you can do the whole city in 16 minutes on foot) hahaha.
Canon forgot what photography is all about when it abandoned its customers. Canon made promises of compactness and bricks came in. The world has become dangerous and people want portability and compactness. Fujifilm has understood this and I dare say that they do listen to their customers, customers looking for photography rather than supercars for their garage, where the important thing is to post technical features on Instagram, make YouTube videos, fast food Chinese fashion poorly explained.
How pathetic many users are with their requests and wishes.
What\'s even more ironic is that underneath this text is the excellent Fujifilm launch.
If any Canon employee comes to read these comments, WAKE UP! The world is not made up of Nutellas.
:D Peace and Photo
Welcome, Fuji troll with tiny hands!
Thank you for your precious insights into American physiology and Swiss car-drivers' behaviour.
I'll immediately hurry to the next Fuji retailer and order one of these wonderful cameras.
My male-supremacy Canons are already in the trash can, next to my fast food and Chinese clothes!

Won't work for me.

Because of that:

And even typing it in right the first time will make you miss a lot of shots.

And that:

All those devices have some code to override and reset.

Online registration and full-time WiFi access might help as you mentioned:

But that'll drain the battery and new complaints come...

Sorry to be the spoilsport here, but if even Apple just managed to implement a "remote permanent lock" to their iPhones, I can't see Canon being smarter here. (not saying Apple is the smartest)

having camera stolen will also make you miss shots.

So please, list security features you would like canon to implement

And wait for a very long time since Fuji deliberately does not increase production, because they do not want to sell their camera’s at a lower price.

Link to google translated post on Digicame.

Now that’s listening to their customers :ROFLMAO:.

Other than physical security features (like the Kensington-style lock slot on big white lenses), the only way electronic security features would help is by deterring theft, and to be effective such features would need to be present in almost all cameras in use. Even then, the attached lens (and others in a camera bag) would also need similar electronic security features else there would still be motivation to steal. Frankly, even with those features the motivation would still be there. So good luck with your fantasy.

Meanwhile, you might try locking your camera to your wrist with a braided steel cable through the strap lug.

Whether cameras are coded or protected in some kind of way will unfortunately never dissuade thieves.
Think of the hundreds of thousands of cellphones stolen year after year.
We all know that not a few shops have specialized in decoding smartphones, they'll do exactly the same with stolen cameras.

oh, camera robbed, can't take photos, double oh

if you are robbed, you are robbed. having a lock on the camera isn't going to change that fact.

they'll take off the lens, sell it, reflash the firmware, etc. take the camera apart and sell it for parts, and so on.

a little biometric control is pretty easy to get around. You'd also have to biometrically lock the lens onto the camera body. so much for fast lens swaps in the field.

what happens if they take your bag with your lenses in it, not biometrically locked?

does your camera have to be continually connected to the internet?

just so many things impractical with this.

if you are worried about the theft of your camera, my advice having lived in Colombia; practice street and environmental awareness and don't flash a $10k camera around.

I didn‘t come up with that idea.
Instead I liked the idea but said I see no working solution on the market.
So why putting that back on me?

Edit:
Ever tried it old school?
  • Always keep an eye on your gear
  • Never leave it alone
  • Never go to dangerous areas of the city
Worked for me til today… for all I own.

Edit 2:
And have insurance for your gear.
Thanks @P-visie

That's why Fujifilm has supplanted Canon as the biggest camera seller, right?

PS it always makes me laugh when I see people insulting strangers and signing out with "peace"
My feeling is that this post was written by an unripe and frustrated kid, which would explain some unhinged thoughts...

I'll never understand why so many photographers still use these stupid red or yellow neckstraps...
I have two theories.
They might feel like a good thief will work in groups and one of them would walk past you to identify everything you have up close how used and exactly what model it is and then google it. In that case, it won't matter.
They might feel like a thief is gonna try to take their gear no matter what. So it won't matter.
BUT I can tell you they probably don't feel like their neck hurts, because there are too many more comfy straps harnesses and holsters, aren't there?

and yet we speak into a mobile phone often.
Even stranger is when we do it with blue tooth headphones in and we are talking to no one. Siri/Alexa is another example.
People would have been placed in asylums 50 years ago for this behaviour unfortunately.

If you see me on the phone, I’m probably having chest pains and calling 911.

As far as Siri/Alexa go, when I can say “Hey Siri, mow my lawn” or “Hey Google, wash my truck”, then I might be interested.

BT headphones are handy though - I’m only listening to music, but I can walk around talking to myself and no one thinks a thing of it.
