BCN Report for June 2024: Sony reclaims Top Spot

my friend wanted a camera to be a step up from her iPhone. small, user friendly, but one that she could grow with. I got her the R50 with the RF16mm 2.8 in addition to the kit lens RF-S 18-150. The R50 really impressed me and it\'s super geared for the smartphone user. They have nice modern filters. And some features my R5 doesn\'t have. The UI is not sluggish like you typically find on low end Canon cameras. Very touch friendly. I think the R50 punches way above its weight class

I hope not.
Time for R5s, then finding out what the R3 is going to be....oooor seriously decereasing price, even below R5m2.

Btw I don't think Canon is ever going to make compact form factor bodies with RF mount. Sony has been doing it for a long time, Canon never even tried.

The ‘always allow location services’ does something similar on ios. You need that on to get up to date coordinates. The decreased battery life you get for free ;)

Below is a video of a Pro Sony shooter comparing the R50 and the ZV-E10. He notes that the 10 bit HDR footage in the R50 is better than the Zv-E10 8 bit footage. But overall its the Sony ecosystem that has a ton of glass and accessories that makes it the top choice.

I think this is the issue with the R50. Its has great image quality at the right price but ins't marketed as a "Creator" camera with a ton of decent glass with wide apertures and other accessories.

Canon has opened up the apsc mount so maybe their will be afforable glass in the future but that will take some time.
