Canon EOS R1, EOS R5 Mark II & More tomorrow at 6:00AM EDT/12:00PM CEST

In the US, employment is generally ‘at will’ with no separation packages required. When offered, they’re commonly done so as compensation for a release of claims, i.e., you agree not to sue your employer in exchange for the severance package.
definitely different rules in different countries. Australia would be considered a middle ground on benefits... EU/Scandinavia would be more difficult due to works councils etc.
The current local package has additional 4 weeks salary as non-disparagement / agreement to not file a unfair dismissal claim. Your choice whether to accept it or not.
The anonymous topics/comments on thelayoff.com are fascinating but definitely a rabbit hole of discontent!

I think I'll pass on preorder this time. Need to see the detailed specs and reviews. Unless there's something exceptional like 16-bit raws with 16 stops of DR and/or raw histogram.
My preorder is in, but I'm getting cold feet. I was hoping that the readout speed would be on par with the R3, but that's not that big of concern if the AF is as improved as suggested. What gives me pause is that I can't for the life of me think of what lens(es) I'd use to harness this great tech. I've got the 100-500L, which is okay but not comparable to an exotic prime for wildlife shooting. I'm not spending $10k plus for one of Canon's, and I'm not being a used EF lens, so there's no lens that fits my needs or on the horizon. A 600mm DO would be perfect, but I'm no holding my breath. So, I'll likely cancel that preorder until there is a compelling long lens offering in ZF.

A 600 DO would be at least as expensive as the current f/4, unless it was narrower aperture. And whaddya know, there is a narrower aperture RF 600 DO - the f/11! :p
