Canon EOS R1, EOS R5 Mark II & More tomorrow at 6:00AM EDT/12:00PM CEST

There will be multiple official bundles. Retailers may make their own.

I have never liked the 24-105 f/4... DSLR days and the current one. However, lots of people like the lens. It all depends on what you want to shoot. How heavy you want the kit to be can be a consideration. The R52, I'd get the 24-70 over the 24-105... But as mentioned, many will probably disagree with me.

There will be a 24-105 f/2.8 bundle, but that thing is a brick. It's one you probably want to get in your hands before spending that kind of money.

I use the 28-70, but I wouldn't call it enjoyable... It's a brick. Epic optically.... On an R3 it's balanced ok, a gripless R5... Eeek.
I very much appreciate reading opinions like this. Thanks for sharing.

Am I wasting my time??? I don't think so. I explicitly said that this is just my opinion (and forums are meant to share them). I'm not yelling "Canon is doomed" btw
Didn't mean that at all.
Of course you are entitled to your opinion if you prefer the Z8. A nice camera, but ergonomically better???
Z9, R3, OK.
But neither the R5, nor the Z8, for me, at least.

As I said, the handling is more DSLR-ish. That's a fact. To me it's better, yeah.
Also, if you compare this https://camerasize.com/compare/#907,718 you'll see how close it is to the D850, especially the top view.
Sure some people prefer smaller cameras, but I personally don't.
That said, there's more to a camera than this.

My favourite is rather the 5 D IV, and, of course, the R3., with the exception of the mode selector. Unfortunately, my carrying system prohibits the use of gripped cameras (Capture Peak clip on backpack strap).
I'll never understand why small cameras have become so popular...

A Chinese guy now reporting 64MP.

Theoretically, this could be that "resolution trick"?

16MP files at thunderous fps rate, or a more moderate 64MP for when you need the resolution.

Canon let Rudy go just before a big product launch? I'll follow their lead and keep my wallet closed for the time being. Good idea to save.
Maybe he was the one leaking stuff? So he was fired. And there are no leaks. Coincidence? I don’t think so. (Just kidding). I’ll truly miss Rudy. He was excited to announce new product, shared all the info but without any marketing BS or exaggerating. It makes me sad.

I was actually thinking the other day that I was looking forward to Rudy going over the new cameras' features. Too bad. Hopefully he received a good severance package.
There is a good severance package where I am given I have 22 years of employment and I am happy to wait for the moment unless given no choice.

There is a scary option where if you are moved to an outsource company (change employer or quit), the outsource company guarantees 12 months employment but your entitlements don't move across. Retrenchment from the outsource company would be the minimum legal requirements after 1 year of service. Nasty way to avoid paying a reasonable or good severance package.

In the US, employment is generally ‘at will’ with no separation packages required. When offered, they’re commonly done so as compensation for a release of claims, i.e., you agree not to sue your employer in exchange for the severance package.
