Is this the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z?

No, I cannot imagine Canon accepting IQ compromises for such a professional working horse. It will again be, like its predecessors, an optically fabulous lens.

I concur. "Hybrid" doesn't mean compromises. The RF 24-105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z is a terrific lens for both use cases. It's optically the 3rd best L zoom they make behind the 28-70 and 100-300. Two absolute marvels. Well... maybe throw the 100-500 in the mix too.

Looking at the 24-105Z and 35L VCM, Canons definition of 'IQ compromise' might differ from the one used by the Canon-is-doomed crowd. Vignetting and distortion aren't anathema anymore.

The one from iShoot, I’ve only encountered it in black. But it’s €60, so I’m not going to be picky about the colour :)

I already have their version for the RF100L, that works great after reversing the foot.

You linked to the smallrig dream rig thing, this is something that people could design: replacement collars and feet. The feet especially are low hanging fruit.
I'm using a Kirk LP-71 lens plate on stock Canon foot. No twisting, 1/4", 3/8", AND QD socket.

I use the RRS L85. It doesn’t have the 3/8”-16 socket, but I have never needed to thread anything of either size into a lens plate and can’t imagine why I would.

I’m looking forward to receiving my RRS LCF-55 replacement foot, but no word on ETA.

Despite enjoying a little capability of video on a "photo camera", this trend of mixing everything is not something I like. Making the lens black only because video people as "sensitive" to it, sucks...

I wish photography would stay "RAW-photography".

I too would prefer a white lens, black lenses have a tendency to "absorb" sunshine. White reflects light and heat. Welcome to Death Valley in summertime! ;)

I understand your preference, but it seems that we shoot in totally different environments ! Far from the harsh sun rays of your valley, I live in the cool atmosphere of jazz clubs, where part of my role is to stay as unnoticeable as possible. Brandishing a big white lens is not my best choice…

On the subject, here's an observation: while most rock musiciens seem to enjoy seeing photographers buzzing at the foot of the stage, competing for real estate and the best viewing angles, jazz and classical musiciens prefer not to notice us and hate hearing the sound of shutters, as do the public. As a jazz photographer, the best way to lose your job is to get noticed!

I was thinking of a very painful experience in Death Valley, when exposure to summer heat brought a crack into the front lens of a black paint Leica R Apo Telyt 180mm. $$$
Of course, I fully understand your point of view, in your favorite environment, a black lens is certainly preferable!
So, why not B/W for a change? White, as we know Canon, would cost a bit (?) more...
