Is the RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z coming in two colours?

If Canon were considering making a black version, perhaps they wanted to test against a white version to see if the color change impacted performance. (An outdoor event held in the summer would probably be a good opportunity for that.)

Something else to consider is that since this has not been released yet, they may very well have made it black so it does not stand out. I was shooting the GS Trophy Team USA qualifiers last September in SC at the BMW Performance Center. They had a test vehicle there running it on the track that was painted black with white/gray checker-type patterns that avoided straight lines. I tried to get some shots of it, but the camera would not focus on it without changing to manual focus.

Interesting. Not a lens I'm looking at, but colour options may be useful elsewhere too.
Another thought: I read a few posts regarding paint chipping (or less robust) on some of the new RF lenses. Could this be a trial for new paints/coatings in a controlled environment (that is, unreleased) with all retrievable for ongoing review before final decisions? (Probably far too late in the development process for this lens)

We leaked the first image of the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z over the weekend, and are 100% confident that the image is real. If you missed it, here it is again: Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z in black This image is perfectly legitimate, it's full resolution, it had a full

Black or white is indifferent (although I would like more white).

I would like to know if it can mount one of the two extenders (1.4x and 2x).
Only in this case could I choose to change my RF 70-200 f/2.8 which has a splendid performance and is optically extraordinary.

I am also certain that the new zoom will have (by design choice to be easily corrected via software) a strong distortion and a notable chromatic aberration as happened with the splendid 24-105 f/2.8... something that makes me - theoretically - uncomfortable!

I don't care about colour, but I hope if the internal zoom ver won't have those crazy raw distortion just to be corrected digitally... let me work with ease with optically excellent lenses!
I still don’t get why people have an issue with digital correction of distortion, but this is a telezoom lens, not a wide angle lens. The amount of native distortion will likely be mild, as it is on the current RF 70-200/2.8.
