But Canon leaves it out of the EL-1 and EL-5 boxes, so if you only have an R8 and buy an EL-5, you can’t charge the LP-EL battery…

I'm not so sure about that. As I already mentioned, my EL-5 didn't come with a charger.I guess lenses with a red stripe includes the lens hood, flashes with a red stripe includes the charger?

We've put the EOS R5 II through our studio scene, so we can take a closer look at dynamic range and the role of the electronic shutter. As has been the case with other fast sensors, there's some impact on dynamic range, but only at the extremes.

I did, I hoped it would help against the “waiting for my R5 Mk II lack of patience” symptoms that come with GAS. It did not help.

JACS-with-spaces over at dpreview has been using the raw files from the studio scene to see how it compares to the R5. He's analyzing the data from the RAW files and it looks like the baked-in noise reduction at low ISOs is less heavy. Better detail, less colour cast and 14-bit in ES, that's a big improvement for my use case. Let's see how fast DxO can add R5II support to their denoisers!
