Little surprised, but I do not yet see an R1 image thread.

I have already seen some great images by forum members go by and I am in my mode where I am testing out the camera and was looking for a place to put some of my images.

Here are images taken yesterday at my backyard feeder. The sun was going down so I had some high ISO images processed in LR with and without some AI Denoise processing.

All on the R1 with the EF 500 f/4 II. All of these are >50% crops of the originals.

To give a sense of the crop, the above image not exported to 1500 pixel is 1689 x 2534, or 4.2 MPs

A few more. I will start pushing up to ISO 12,800 and higher.

I am starting to push higher ISOs to see how high it goes...but this is 1/2000, f/4, ISO 4000 no noise reduction

Afternoon light tends to be better at my feeder, but with the holiday coming up and a number of storms running through, I thought I would take a few this morning and may post more when I get better light.

R1, EF 500 f/4 II, 1/2000, f/4. All taken at my feeder. R1 is giving me a focal distance of 8.99 m/29.5 ft, which is about right. All of these are exported as cropped, down to about 3 MP.

ISO 12,800, no noise reduction

same image with AI Denoise in LRc (set to 30)

ISO 25,600 no noise reduction (minor processing)

I am seeing the impact of higher ISOs not just in detail, but the colors are becoming harder to manage and the DR is taking its toll, especially in highlights. Initial thought is that it may be better to underexpose and work harder to preserve the highlights at high ISOs.

But I am impressed. On an uncropped image, you could likely even go higher. Cropping, I think this may be the maximum I will want.
