(Read Edit 2 before proceeding) I'm using a Canon R5 Mark II and I have hit a stone wall in attempting to transfer a 29-minute video file to my laptop. If I use EOS Utility, it tells me the camera is not recognized. If I use Final Cut Pro X, I can transfer very short, test video files of, say 45 seconds, but it utterly fails to import my larger video files. I've tried videoing in 4 different ways and it fails each time. I went to the FAQ's to do with EOS Utility not recognizing the camera and worked through their proposed solutions. None of them work.
Edit 1: I also just downloaded Canon XF Utility and tried that--still doesn't recognize the camera
Edit 2: I discovered that the EOS Utility I was using was an old version, so I downloaded EOS Utility v. 3.18.11 and it worked just fine; problem solved. As is almost always the case, the solution was very simple.
