Canon Lens Stabilizer Mode?

I want to try my 5D MK4 camera with the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM on a moving steam train.

Which Stabilizer Mode 1, 2, 3 should I use?

If you’re going to pan along with the train, Mode 2. Else, Mode 1 (or 3 if you prefer, but 1 stabilizes the viewfinder which is often helpful with longer lenses).

Depends on what you are shooting when you are on the moving train.

Ahhh, language. I interpreted it as try the camera+lens on a moving train, as opposed to try the camera+lens on a moving train. Confusion between grammatical and photographic subjects, I suppose.
