After another trip abroad, I'm starting to look at gimbals more seriously.

The DJI RS 4 Pro, The Zhiyun Crane 4 and now the Feiyu Scorp 2.

Although I consider myself a stills shooter, I'm finding myself taking more video. I've got the camera for it. I am not a content creator and don't shoot professionally so dropping the money on the RS 4 Pro Combo $1100 or Zhiyun Crane 4 $670 seemed a bit much for something I wouldn't use often. The Feiyu Scrop2 is under $400.

While is doesn't have the auto-locks or removeable battery (DJI), it is the most compact and lightest of the 3. It has a cool AI tracking feature that I might figure out how to incorporate into videos. I'm sure DJI will have this next year. Feiyu - The only drawback I see is them not having US based support, but for an extra $70, I'd get AllState or SquareDeal coverage. The reviews appear favorable. The Crane 4 is close 2nd but its larger, weighs more and has a built in light that unfortunately causes a mobility (range) issue without some back flips. Like the DJI it has a larger payload capacity, but I don't need it.

Has anyone got a Scorp 2? Do you like it. Do they put out firmware updates regularly?

Thanks

Well. I got the Scorp2.

Setup was straightforward. The gimble itself is solid. Design and features are very good. Unfortunately, I could not get my R5 C and RF24-70 to balance on the tilt axis. The camera is listed as compatible and supported. The combined weight is just under 4lbs. The gimbal is rated for 5.5Lbs payload. Although the gimbal is larger, you cannot move the camera back far enough to balance without it contacting the rotation arm and motor. This makes transition to underslung mode impossible. If you lower the mount on the tilt axis, the bottom of the body contacts the pan motor and swivel. It might work with a pancake or comparable lens. There is no way you could add a follow focus or control ring motor/rod. It won't balance.

I emailed the manufacturer and let them know, right before creating an RMA. This is a great gimbal for a smaller body and lens. I was hopeful, but in the end, a DJI Ronin appears to be the way to go.
