New Canon Cinema lenses coming in 2021, including the first RF mount CINE lenses [CR3]

It would be great if Canon would replace the 35, 50, and 85 with lenses with less CA. I might actually buy a series with updated designs. I don’t see a huge market for primes with AF. I love the manual focus assist from Canon, but I don’t actually see a huge benefit to full time AF on my prime lenses. If I need AF, it is usually for gimbal work where I would rather just use a much lighter stills lens.
The idea behind adding full frame compatibility to the compact cine-zooms is odd. The current 70-200 t/4.4 is already full frame. Maybe they will redesign them as something like a 70-200 t/4.4 full frame/ 50-140 t/3.1 S35 and a 24-105 t/4.4 full frame 18-80 t/3.1 S35.

I wonder what exactly would be the advantage of new CINE primes compared to the current lineup, if they dont add AF?
My personal guess is, that they will go for AF lenses. I think it changes the industry and canon will lead this change. The C200 and C70 with DPAF is in my opinion the first step that shows their commitment to Autofocus systems.
But time will tell =)

I assume the RF CINE primes are rehoused and recoated RF still lenses. For that they are missing a 14mm, 20mm, 24mm, 35mm and 135mm. Wouldn't still lenses be released before the cine versions?

That is a very illogical assumption. Cine lenses and photography lenses have many design differences and priorities.

I don't think they are talking about the COMPACT SERVO lenses - which is the one you're refering to and a more popular lenses series overal. Theyare talking about the Compact Zoom lenses whichare the CN 15.5-47mm T2.8 and the 30-105mm T2.8. These lenses have been around for a long time and are well regarded lenses, but they got less and less popular over time due to their pricing (it used to cost $25k per lens, now it's $10k) and only cover S35 sensors. The Angenieux EZ were a T stop brighter and a lot more cheap than these lenses.

Doing this as an updated new model to the COMPACT SERVO lens line would be great. Add in the Image stabilization and operational mechanics of this series, would make this lens pretty awesome!

Would the differences include: parfocal/focus breathing/declicked-geared rings/T stop markings? Anything else?

Yes, when designed as a set the external barrels are normally a common size regardless of the focal length, and the focus and aperture rings are normally in the same location, this vastly speeds up lens change where mat boxes, focus pullers/or motors and aperture controls are in use.

I wish they'd come out with some anamorphic lenses that didn't cost an arm and a leg....
I"d like one to shoot stills with too...I just like the look and aspect ratio.
I don't understand why so few and so $$$$$ options out there for FF anamorphic lenses.
