Has the G7x focus improved

I made a quick look at the Canon support site and saw no firmware update for the original G7X. I shot with the G7X Mark II for years and never had any focus issues. My current travel camera is the G5X Mark II, which has a little better lens. The only focusing issue I have had with it was in shooting some video. After it was turned back on, the autofocus would hunt around a bit, messing up the start of a clip. As long as I kept the camera on, it was not a problem. I don’t recall any focus issues with stills. One oddity was in churches in Italy, the face detection seemed always to hone in on the face of the Virgin Mary

Just got a G7X mkIII with the 1.3 firmware and the auto focus is still having some lack of responsiveness. You can watch some youtube reviews about the new firmware update.
For photos the touchscreen shutter is a useless feature, as it just clicks without trying focusing first. It is great that autofucs works in video at all, unlike the 6D.
