G7X MK IV ?

I suppose, Canon is too busy with anything EOS R, RF, etc. related.
I don't know, how big (better "small") that P&S market is today.
I suppose that most people there are just using their cell phones and that it is almost dead.
Depending on that numbers, maybe there is no big enough return of invest for the R&D of new P&S models.

Of course, I would highly welcome the latest sensor and AF tech in such a P&S camera.
It would be a giant leap forward, thinking about what happened since the G7X Mk III was released.

We'll see...

It's just so much better than using smartphones in so many respects. handling, low light capability, optical zoom, flash, variable aperture, manual controls, tripod mount, variable angle display, ...
I don't quite get why there should not be a market.

Seeing that every single retailer was unable to keep stock of the G7XII and III, it sells out immediately on Canon Refurbished, and so many people use the camera for vlogging, you would have to think that there is at least some market to create a successor for it.
There is a huge market but Canon moves slowly. Currently G7X Mark II and III are surfing on the Fujifilm X100VI trend-wave on TikTok. Gen Z discovered the "on camera flash effect" and the 1/2000+ sync speed of leaf shutters.

If Canon released a new Powershot right now, even barely updated, it would sell like hotcakes. And if they'd put an APS-C sensor and a 22mm f/2 lens Gen Z would loot the warehouses.

I just read about the Leica D-Lux 8 being precisely that. Releasing a very slightly improved version of an old camera/lens/sensor and they're instantly sold out around the world. I struggle to understand why this market was seemingly abandoned by all the camera brands. I would love a camera like the D-Lux 8...but that really is a very dated camera being sold with a new EVF. haha
