Apple buys Pixelmator

Not sure how big their user base is, but when Apple buys software companies like this, they typically wind down their apps and roll their features into their own counterparts.

This could mean better RAW handling and editing in the Photos app, or maybe (though probably not) a reboot of Aperture.

Not that I use it much at all these days, but the Photos app desperately needs beefing up ...

I really hope they don't just merge it with the photos app. The photos app is ok for what it is, I would really prefer an aperture type replacement. If they have acquired Pixelmator, then they have the tools in which to create 3 types of photos app. Photos for regular basic use, Photomator for Aperture type more professional orientated use, and Pixelmator Pro for Photoshop type functionality

I'm not looking forward to, well just about whatever they do. I enjoy Pixelmator Pro and would prefer it stay a stand alone app. I expect only a few Apple desired functions will be imported into Photos feature list, then I'll just have to bounce between Photos and other apps to complete my current tasks.
