The latest major Canon EOS R5 C firmware update had an annoying bug that was quickly spotted by users. The bug was found after the first couple of days of release, which was on June 15, 2023. It seems to have taken more than a week for Canon to acknowledge it and pull the firmware

Has been pulled from Canon USA for awhile. It took awhile for it to be pulled from Canon UK.

It was on Canon USA on Friday morning my time. Which I thought was weird.

Glad they pulled it and I suspect that Canon will resolve it soon. As cameras' firmwares become increasingly more complex, conflicts and issues are more likely to manifest.

Yay. They quoted my post. glad they left in name of the guy who originally found it. I just help spread the news. All credit to him.

I’m guessing it’s a weird bug because it’s easy for me to reproduce 100% of the time but other people on these forums have tried it and I’ve seen YouTube’s do the exact same thing I do and not have an issue.

Hopefully canon sort it and release a fix soon.

Bugs aside - loving the battery life. I actually took it out of the cage and using it stripped down now, no external battery ( I rarely shoot stills) There are still some refinements to be made but this firmware is a massive leap. We should start a request list.
