This patent application (2024-101645) has a bunch of embodiments, allowing us to frame some observations about optical designs that we occasionally see here. yes i have the patent up, was waiting until later to post.

I'm also an ultra wide bigot, i find them more interesting ;)
They have their advantages. Birds seem to shrink in size when you get the telelens out of the bag, so more mm’s of focal length has advantages too. The 300-600 and 400-600mm, if they ever make it to actual products, will be breathtakingly expense.
