Happy Hallowe’en! Canon to announce 3 lenses on October 31, 2024

Looking forward to the 50 f/1.4, I’d really like something better than the 50STM, but smaller/lighter/cheaper than the f/1.2.
I’d expect it to be a lens with a few compromises, like the 35mm f/1.4 VCM.

— They gave us a cheap option (f/1.8)
— They gave us fully-photography-oriented (f/1.2) lens
— And now now they’ll give us an intermediate hybrid solution

Do we think that the 70-200 mm f2.8 will be compatible with TCs?
Yes, we do think so

So curiously the reflection of what is probably the 70-200 in the teaser seems to show a white lens, so I guess they may have decided on that color (vs offering both)
I’d say it’s black, but it would be nice to have both options

Do we think that the 70-200 mm f2.8 will be compatible with TCs? For me, it would have to in order to justify a purchase.
Almost certainly. My understanding is that it will be a more "traditional" 70-200mm design meaning it won't have the same limitations as the controversial compact 70-200mm. For me, the compact RF 70-200mm is the first 70-200mm that I've actually used significantly primarily due to its compact design.

Wonder what lenses come after this. Will we see later next year a 16mm 1.4 VCM, 85mm 1.4 VCM, 105mm 1.4 VCM? Idk, all i know is i'm in love with my 35mm 1.4 for it's size and low light performance for video. Can't go wrong going lighter and internal zoom!

I can already hear the wailing. The 50mm won't be small enough compared to the competition. Or it won't be big enough. If the 70-200 lens aimed at video can't take a TC, the cries will be heard at the corners of the Earth. Its a fixed zoom that isnt as compact as the collapsing design - this display of Canon's continued wanton malice towards its consumers, and continued compliance with the laws of physics will force many to Sony or Nikon.

I'm sure in use they'll all be quite good. I have the 24mm 1.8, which I like for is small size and macro function. But I'll have to see what this 24mm L has to offer. Still rocking my Sigma 50mm Art - no reason to upgrade that one. Maybe some good deals will be had on the external zoom 70-200s and I'll finally add one to my bag.
