You all know by now that Cannon will be announcing three new lenses on October 30th. That will be happening at midnight Eastern Time. Just to recap in case you’re new here we know for sure the following three lenses are coming.
- Canon RF 24mm f/1.4L VCM
- Canon RF 50mm f/1.4L VCM
- Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z – Black
- Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z – White
- Canon RF-S 7.8mm f/4 STM Dual Lens VR
We can now confirm that two more lenses are coming on the same day.
We believe one of them will be the RF-S 7.8mm f/4 STM Dual Lens for recording spatial video for the Apple Vision Pro using the EOS R7.
The exact specifications of the fifth lens is up in the air at the moment, although I’m pretty confident that it is going to be a big white zoom. I have been told so many subtly different things about the lens, I’m thinking it’s some kind of variation of the long rumored RF 200-500mm f/4L IS USM. I don’t want to report the conflicting information at this time.
There was some confusion on my part, as there is another lens coming in possibly late November, So there are five SKU’s tonight, but not 5 models.
We dont have long to wait. More to come very soon…..

Unless that 5th lens is something interesting to me (a 200-500 would not be, unless it has a built-in 1.4x TC and is substantially smaller than my 600/4 II...and I don't see that as very likely even if a big white zoom is the 5th
wheellens announced).Canon, where are my TS-R lenses?
It is not a prime. I think I'll have it nailed in the next 3 to 4 hours. This stuff is oddly fun for me. I'm not sure if that's a good thing.
I've never been a big user of the EF 24mm f1.4 II L, I far prefere the 35/f1.4 option. I had one for many years, but hardly used it.
I use the 24mm focal length on my 24-70/2.8 II L a lot, I seem to like it's results better @f2.8 than I ever did @f1.4.
