SIGMA has finally brought another RF mount lens to their lineup. As you know, these new SIGMA RF lenses are for APS-C cameras. The SIGMA 10-18mm F2.8 DC DN will start shipping on September 26, 2024. Canon has an RF-S 10 - 18mm, it's just a smaller/variable aperture.

That's not a good lens. Canon should have done the EF-M 11-22 instead. Even adapting the EF-S 10-22 is a better idea.

When FF RF lenses will be available ?
I own an R5 and I’m in the market for modern 14 and 20mm for astrophotography. I own the 14 1.8 and would like to update for better coma.
Sigma DG DN Art 14 and 20 1.4 are astonishing.
Does CanonRumors know more on their release for Canon RF?
I’m seriously considering buying a Sony A7R3 to be able to take profit of these two lenses… Thank Canon to oblige me to mix equipment… unless I switch totally to Sony.
Any inputs are welcome

Can’t build an adapter, but an actual mount conversion where they change the flange itself +/- the rear housings should be possible. Probably not worth the cost and logistics of supporting such a program.

So far there seem to be no plans. Nikon apparently also doesn’t have any full frame sigma lenses- I imagine we’d see those before any Canon offerings.

Sony isn’t perfect either since they limit capabilities (notably frame rate) on 3rd party lenses compared to first party.

Probably couldn't hit the price targets they wanted with that optical/mechanical design. The EF-M retailed for $400, while the RF-S retails for $300. The 18-150s have the same MSRP for both EF-M and RF-S versions.

The Canon RF 10-18 is certainly a "real" option, especially for those using a wide angle lens for landscapes, where shooting at f/7.1 or f/8 would certainly be considered more of the norm than shooting wide open, in my opinion.

Focal length and depth of field wise yes. Light gathering - per unit area no, but across the sensor basically.

But that’s the well known compromise of going with a smaller sensor. And the whole setup is still considerably more compact than a full frame body with a 16-35 f/4 while delivering similar results.

Regrettably, it’s not so well-known that some people are still confused by it.

We all know the full frame has better IQ mantra, but the practical reality is that the differences are mainly evident in low light, or if you need razor-thin DoF.

We have idea but it would be good for sigma to release these 2 in EF mount even in manual focus which would suit wide angle Astro desires. I have the Samtang 14/2.8 and sigma 20/1.4 which is sufficient for now. Coma isn’t that big an issue if you have sufficient panel overlap before stitching.

The better option is the a7siii (or earlier). You don’t need the mp if you are stitching. Get it Ha modified and you are sweet :)

Thanks for your inputs
Regarding your tips for avoiding coma. How do you process? With a tracker? I do not use tracker, I stack pictures shoot on tripod and should you have a process to improve coma, your are more than welcome.
By extension, I do not see how I could to get more mp from a A7S2 without a tracker. How do you process?

Right now, only Sigma APS-C lenses are announced and released. (for RF-S mount)
There is no information about FF lenses yet. No rumour, too.
Of course, I really would appreciate that, too. Seeing, what they offer for Nikon ans Sony.
But maybe there have to be more negotiations between Sigma and Canon first :(
